Relocating to Cresson Texas
Cresson Texas is located 20 minutes outside of Granbury about 30 minutes from Fort Worth. It's nestled on the interchange of Highway 171 and Highway 377. This small community is home to just under 1000 residents and is located to the corners of Hood, Johnson, and Parker counties. This small community was incorporated in 2001. It originally was thought to have been named after John Crescent, a captain of a wagon train that camped in the area before the Civil War, however, the original origin of the name has been lost to history. The town of Cresson was at one time served by the Fort Worth and the Rio Grande, the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe railroad companies.
While the town was recently incorporated, the community of Cresson was established in 1887 and was once a progressive thriving community servicing two railroads, a cotton gin, a hotel, barbershop, bank, school, general store, and other businesses. Over the years, roads were improved and access to neighboring Granbury and Fort Worth became more accessible. Today, Cresson is a quiet residential community surrounded by beautiful ranches and farmland.
Cresson Schools
Cresson is part of the Granbury Independent School District and the Aledo Independent School District. Students are typically assigned to the Vandergriff elementary school, the Aledo middle school, the McAnally meant intermediate school and the Aledo high school.
