Where can I Take my Family to Pick a Pumpkin Near Granbury Texas?One of the most popular family friendly fun activities to do in the fall is to visit a local farm and stroll through their pumpkin patch as you pick out the best looking pumpkin to take home and carve for Halloween. Granbury is a magical small town but is limited on it's pumpkin patch opportunities. But there are some fun places to pick out a pumpkin and have a great family friendly day trip not too far from town.

Here are some pumpkin patches near Granbury Texas

First Christian Church Pumpkin Patch

This may be the only opportunity to grab a pumpkin within the town of Granbury. It is located at 2109 West Highway 377 in Granbury. This is not an actual pumpkin patch but it is a fun opportunity to enjoy a fall tradition in Granbury and maybe even run into a local friend or two. Every year the front lawn of First Christian Church turns into a pumpkin patch. Traditionally the church has over 1000 pumpkins and gourds available to choose from. You can pick out your perfect pumpkin, play some games, and there is even an opportunity to paint your pumpkin if you wish. Admission is free so you can't beat the price.

Pumpkin Picking in Stephenville

Stephenville is about half an hour from the town of Granbury. This is not too far of a trek to bring the entire family out for some fall pumpkin fun.

Lone Star Family Farm

Lone Star is a newer family farm founded in 2013. And now it is a host to over 20 fun activities during the fall season. It is definitely worth a 30-minute drive to visit if you are looking for that fun family fall day trip to the pumpkin patch.

Activities at Lone Star Family Farm include a corn maze, farm animals, Haybale maze and Pyramid, cow train, corn cannon, pumpkin patch, various shopping opportunities for decor and local goods, several photo ops, giant slides, combine harvester slide, cornhole games, pedal tractors, stick horses, hayrides, sunflower fields, concessions, and more.

Fall activities open on September 24 and run through November 5. Hours for the farm are Fridays from 4 PM to 9:30 PM, Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and Sundays from 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Hours for November 5 or Saturday from 10:30 AM to 6 PM. Tickets are $17 per person age 3 and over and this pays for admission to every single activity on the farm. Of course purchasing food, pumpkins, and decor comes at an added cost. Tickets can be purchased online to assure your spot as they are limited to 300 guests at a time.

Patches in Alvarado

Alvarado is 34 miles from Granbury and takes just under 40 minutes to get there by car. If you have never been there before the halfway point between the two cities is Godley for reference.

Country Critters Farm

Country Critters is most famously known for its petting zoo but there is a whole lot more to do at this very family-friendly venue. The pumpkin patch will open on October 1 and admission is $15 per person all day and it gets you into all of the fun events on the farm. Make sure to check the website before coming out to the farm to ensure that it is open as it shuts down during inclement weather. Midlothian Pumpkin Patches

The town of Midlothian is a little further out from Granbury it is just over an hour drive. But if you are into making your farm visit a full day family adventure that you will all love and not forget it is worth a trip.

Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm

Shadow Creek is located 30 minutes south of Dallas and Fort Worth and about an hour out of Granbury. They have a very large pumpkin patch and several fun activities spread across 20 acres of shaded farmland making it even more enjoyable as temperatures are still pretty high during this time in Texas.

Admission is $15 per person aged 3 to 54 and $12 for seniors, veterans, and first responders. Children age 2 and under are free. Your ticket includes admission to all of the fun activities including hay rides, animal encounters, slides, giant jump pad bouncing apparatuses, pumpkin bowling, tic-tac-toe, squirrel cage races, a pyramid climb, and much more. There are some activities that cost extra that are al-a-cart including ax throwing and cannon adventures. It is good to note that each family will be required to fill out a liability waiver before enjoying fun on the farm. To save some time you can do this online. Activities at Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm begin on Saturday, October 1, and run through Sunday, October 30. Hours on Saturdays are 10 AM to 6 PM and Sundays are 1 PM to 6 PM.
