Granbury Holiday Events for 2023

The Beloved Granbury Night of Lights Christmas Parade

When people think of Christmas in Granbury this is often the first event that comes to their mind. One of the most iconic and traditional Christmas events in Granbury is the Night of Lights Christmas Parade on the day after Thanksgiving. This parade ushers in the season with a colorful lineup of brilliantly lighted floats full of twinkling Christmas lights as well as walking groups. The parade winds through the downtown historic district of Granbury and ends with Santa's arrival in town kicking off the holiday season. It also begins the light display at Shanley Park and City Hall with the lights being flipped on. This is a free event starting at 6 PM on November 24.

The Christmas in Granbury Festival

From the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's Eve, there is always something to enjoy and take part in in downtown Granbury. Start at Shanley Park by taking a stroll through the Christmas light displays. Stop by Santa's house in the downtown historic square and let the big guy in charge know what you want for Christmas. Grab your tickets for the traditional Nutcracker Ballet performed by Ballet Frontier. Take in live singing performances by local artists. Check out the Granbury candlelight tour of homes. Take a look at the impressive display of nearly 1600 nativity scenes. There's so much to see and do in this month and a half of celebration and festivities. Check out the visit Granbury website for every detail on all that is going on from now until the end of the year.

The Nutcracker Experience

This is another Brian Clowdus Experiences production. This performing company has brought many great holiday celebration performances to the town of Granbury in the past couple of years. The experiences are always a big hit and highly popular. Make sure to purchase your tickets as soon as possible.

For the holiday season, Brian Clowdus Experiences is bringing a nutcracker experience that will have you immersed in all of the magic of this beloved holiday story. This is a different take on the traditional classic extending the story into a new realm of thought and imagination. The story takes place after Clara the main character from the Nutcracker story experiences the passing of her father. This is the first Christmas without her father and it is difficult without the one who made Christmas special with handmade gifts. In the story, Clara has a stepmother who is also heartbroken and they both try to navigate the season together without him. Before her father passed he carved a nutcracker as a final Christmas present with a special message. The message read "The Nutcracker will keep the magic of Christmas alive. If you believe in the magic, I'm always with you…"

After reading the message from her father and receiving the gift Clara falls into sleep just as in the original story and enters into a dream fantasy world. You can experience this new take on the Nutcracker story at the Langdon Center on 308 East Bridge St. The show runs from December 20 through December 30. For specific dates and times check out the event website on the Brian Clowdus Experiences website.

VIP tickets are $99 and general admission ranges from $34-$59 based on date and time. It is good to note that this is an hour-long experience and there is a bit of interaction for a small portion of the performance with standing and walking.
