Relocating to Benbrook Texas
Considering a move to Benbrook Texas? This Fort Worth suburb is home to about 23,300 people. It's located southwest of downtown Fort Worth with easy access into downtown along several freeways and highways. It's also nestled along Benbrook Lake with great water activities and fishing.
Benbrook History
One unique thing about Benbrook is that in 1949, just two years after Benbrook was incorporated as a village, prohibition was in full swing and the sale of liquor and beer was illegal. In 1951, local citizens voted to make taverns illegal, and a few years later in 1954, another election was held to determine the legality of selling alcohol for off-premise consumption but there were not enough votes to approve it. In 1971, residents again came together to prohibit all alcohol sales except for beer to be consumed off-premise. But does that mean you can't enjoy your favorite beer or glass of wine? Beer and wine can still be found in every corner store and grocery store in the city. Benbrook has a long-standing tradition of limiting the sale of alcohol but not too many of us think it's going to go on for much longer. Remember, it's a town of just 24,000 residents so you don't have to go very far to enjoy your favorite brew. Downtown Fort Worth and surrounding areas have great breweries, taverns, and gastropubs where you can indulge to your heart's content.
Benbrook Texas Schools
There have been talks about Benbrook opening its own independent school district but for now, Benbrook is part of the Fort Worth Independent School District. There are two elementary schools in town, the Benbrook elementary and the Westpark Elementary and Waverley Park elementary and Ridglea Hills elementary and Fort Worth also serve portions of Benbrook. These are followed by the Benbrook middle-high school in the Western Hills high school.
Living in Benbrook
Benbrook receives top ratings and reviews from just about every resident but don't take our word for it, here's what folks have to say on niche.com.
"I love the small town feel in a big city. Benbrook is located Southwest of Downtown Fort Worth. It is a safe city with great rated schools. It is conveniently located off of the I 20 freeway and easily accessible from the new Chisholm Trail Parkway. It has a well maintained lake where camping and boating are available. For enjoyment, exercise, or to commute, Benbrook offers opportunities to walk, jog, rollerblade, or bike along easy-to-access roadways or along several miles of scenic hike & bike trails. Plenty of beautiful parks and golf courses can be found for any outdoor enthusiasts."
"I love Benbrook! It is a small town next to Fort Worth, Texas (where I live) that is very safe and full of friendly and attentive people. I love going to the Benbrook library, as well as the Benbrook lake when I am in town. I have a lot of fun with my family and feel at home when I am there. I would definitely consider moving to this town, in order to live a more quiet and peaceful life than the one I have here in Fort Worth. Overall, my experience in Benbrook has been great and I would recommend people to not only visit, but to move here as well, if they desire simple, stress-free, country-style living."
